The Her Initiative

Many of us in the U.S, including myself, take fresh water for granted.  We often forget how lucky we are to have fresh water just from a turn of the tap.  The Her Initiative is a program through Healing Waters, a nonprofit, that helps bring clean water and health and hygiene education to developing countries.  Close to 1 billion people in the world do not have access to water that is safe to drink.  The premise of The Her Initiative is to partner with women in the U.S. to empower women in the developing world by providing access to safe water and a women’s specific health and hygiene program.

Bloggers Jenna Kutcher, Lauren SteeleKathleen Barnes, former Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock, and Kayla Fruchtman traveled to the Dominican Republic to meet and work with the women benefiting from The Her Initiative.  Read more about their recent trip and life changing experiences on Jenna and Desiree’s blogs.  What they have to share is very inspiring.
